The Pine Ridge is a hidden treasure! Area attractions include historic Fort Robinson, where Lakota Sioux Warrior, Crazy Horse, was killed; the Sidney-Deadwood Stage Coach route; and several public archeological digs. The Black Hills of South Dakota along with the famous Mount Rushmore, are within a couple of hours drive. There are numerous places to camp and hike, and several members offer the privacy of their property to you for exploration and enjoyment. Either pitch your own tent, stay in an original sheep wagon by yourself, or enjoy the luxury and pampering of a real country bed & breakfast in a beautiful setting. You can also rent a ranch and be on your own. Ask about Cowboy Cook-outs and our Farmers Market for country fresh groceries. |

Wildlife are plentiful in the greater Pine Ridge area of northwest Nebraska. You can enjoy watching, photographing or hunting wildlife on members' lands, on your own. Some offer fishing in their own creek or pond. |

Animals you are likely to find include mule deer, whitetail deer, elk, pheasant, grouse, Merriam turkey, coyotes, bobcat, porcupines, foxes, eagles, hawks and all kinds of bird species, and maybe even a mountain lion! Some members also offer viewing and hunting of buffalo, mouflon sheep and fallow deer. |

The area offers stunning horseback riding trails, winding their way along lush creek bottoms, up through the Ponderosa Pine trees to open grasslands, to meander down hills and canyons. In addition to some members offering trail riding on their lands, several members offer working cattle ranch vacations and guest ranch vacations, using their ranch horses or bringing your own. You will also find members offering fine horse motels for travelers. |
Other area summer activities include a 4th of July parade and PRCA Rodeo, Fur Trade Days, Dawes County Fair, and the annual Ride the Ridge Trail Ride, just to name a few. Some area attractions that are open all summer include historic Fort Robinson, Chadron State Park, Legend Buttes Golf Course, Hudson-Meng Bison Kill Site and Agate Fossil Beds. The Black Hills, Mount Rushmore and the Badlands of South Dakota are close enough for day or overnight side trips. Gambling is available at Prairie Winds Casino on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, and in Deadwood, South Dakota. Crawford and Chadron offer some of the most beautiful golf-courses in the United States.
